Aged care living

Questions, answered

What type of Aged Care is best for you or your family member?

Whilst we provide high quality aged care living, no one understands your needs better than you. Our experienced health care team works closely with you, your family and your health care professionals to develop and manage a personalised care plan for what you need, to ensure that you receive the highest standard of care and support for your mental and physical health and wellbeing.

We offer a range of care services for people with varied health or lifestyle needs. Whether it is a little help with daily tasks such as personal grooming or hygiene or some respite care when your carer or family are away, we can provide you with the necessary services you need to maintain your quality of life.

We understand that the decision to choose an aged care living home is challenging and emotional. No matter where you are in the process, we can help you discover opportunities to ensure that you or your loved one can live a happy, meaningful and fulfilling life.

What is Aged Care Living?

Aged care living is about providing accommodation, care and support so people who can no longer live independently can continue to enjoy a safe, social and fulfilling life. At Gracevale Lodge, that means affordable supported residential care in a secure, welcoming and home-like community.

Our trained staff provide 24-hour onsite care — from secure medicine management and help with daily routines to nutritious meals and a full calendar of activities — so our residents can stay active and connected, and maintain their independence and community connections.

What types of Aged Care Living Services are available at Gracevale Lodge?

Gracevale Lodge offers both permanent and short-term care, with personalised support tailored to each resident so they can continue to enjoy their interests and independence while living among friends.

Our trained staff provide 24-hour personalised care including secure medicine management, help with daily personal hygiene and grooming routines, mobility assistance, nutritious, well-balanced meals and full laundry services. Residents also enjoy a wide variety of programs and activities — regular low-impact exercise, music therapy, art and craft, and regular visiting entertainment — to help maintain their physical, social and mental health and wellbeing.

What types of fees are associated with Aged Care Living at Gracevale Lodge?

At Gracevale Lodge, our residents pay an all-inclusive resident fee each fortnight which covers accommodation, meals, laundry, servicing of rooms, use of communal facilities, all specialised care and support services, and all social programs and activities provided at Gracevale Lodge. We don’t require any upfront fees or accommodation bond, and the resident fee doesn’t depend on any income or asset calculation or ACAS assessment so we can accept residents, on approved application, as soon as suitable accommodation becomes available. All residents are eligible for government rental assistance.

Can I look at Gracevale Lodge before applying for residential care?

Absolutely! We’d love to show you around Gracevale Lodge. We can show you the residential rooms, communal areas, gardens and activities and programs for our residents. Come and join us for a meal and meet our happy community of residents and caring staff.

What can I bring into my new home?

We provide full high-quality bed linen, towels and laundry services, so you only need to bring your clothes and a blanket. Our residents’ rooms are fully furnished for comfortable living, and include a bed, armchair, bedroom furniture, wardrobe and shelving, so you can simply move in with a suitcase! We encourage our residents to decorate and furnish their rooms with photos and ornaments to enjoy and personalise the space in their room. After all, this is your home!

Who is eligible for Residential Aged Care Living at Gracevale Lodge?

Gracevale Lodge welcomes residents in their 20s onwards with low-level physical, mobility or intellectual disabilities or mental health disorders, those who are aged or frail, and those from socially disadvantaged or vulnerable circumstances — anyone who can no longer live at home and is seeking quality care, support and companionship in a comfortable, nurturing community home.

Both permanent and short-term places are available. We’d encourage you to get in touch and tell us a little about your situation, so we can help you decide whether Gracevale Lodge is the right fit.

How do I know if I need to look at moving into Aged Care Living?

It’s rarely a single moment — more often it’s a build-up of signs: managing medications, meals or personal care is becoming harder, home feels isolating, or a recent illness or fall has made living alone feel unsafe. If daily life is becoming a struggle for you or someone you love, it may be time to consider supported living.

There’s no need to work it out on your own. Have a chat with us about your situation and we’ll help you understand the options — including whether Gracevale Lodge would be a good fit for your needs.

What if I only need care for a short time?

Gracevale Lodge offers affordable short-term respite and convalescence care as well as permanent places. Our nutritional, physical and social programs are inclusive and designed around each resident’s needs and interests, so even short-stay residents feel genuinely welcome and part of our community. Talk to us about your circumstances and we’ll help you find the right arrangement.
