Low-Needs Care Nursing Home

Gracevale Lodge is a low-needs care nursing home for people in their 20s onwards with low-level physical, mobility or intellectual disabilities or mental health disorders and those who are aged or frail and can no longer live at home, and seek high quality care, support and companionship so they can continue to enjoy their interests and independence while living among friends in a secure, comfortable and nurturing communal home. We provide permanent, short-term and respite care in single, twin and deluxe double rooms, and offer a flexible range of private, shared and community bathroom options to suit all budgets.

A welcoming environment at Gracevale Lodge

As a mid-sized low-needs care nursing home, Gracevale Lodge maintains a good mix of residents who get on well with each other, and treat each other with respect and dignity. We are large enough to provide a wide variety of social and recreational activities and programs, yet small enough to provide high quality personalised care and support for each individual resident, and for our residents and staff to get to know each other. This makes Gracevale Lodge a happy, inclusive and caring home for our residents.

As a low-needs care nursing home, we don’t require a formal aged care assessment and you don’t have to pay any upfront fees or accommodation bond, so with minimal ‘red tape’, we can accept you into Gracevale Lodge on approved application as soon as suitable accommodation becomes available.

Our residents come to us from right across Gippsland — from Pakenham through to Drouin, Morwell, Traralgon and Sale, as well as the immediate Warragul area. As a local home, we’re proud to support our community: we prioritise home-grown and local produce for our meals, use local tradespeople and small businesses wherever we can, and most of our staff are locals too.

Talk to us about your needs, and let us help your loved ones enjoy personalised 24-hour care and support while maintaining their quality of life, personal interests and independence in a supportive and affordable low-needs care nursing home.

Low-needs care nursing home FAQs

What is a Low-Needs Care Nursing Home?

A low-needs care nursing home is a privately-funded communal home providing accommodation and care for people with low-level support needs. At Gracevale Lodge, that means affordable permanent and short-term residential care for people in their 20s onwards who can no longer live at home and are seeking quality care, support and companionship in a secure, comfortable community. There’s no formal ACAS assessment, accommodation bond or income or asset test, so we can welcome new residents, on approved application, as soon as a suitable room becomes available.

What care and services are provided?

Our trained staff provide 24-hour personalised care, including secure medicine management, help with daily personal hygiene and grooming, and mobility assistance. We also provide nutritious, well-balanced meals, full laundry services, and a wide variety of programs and activities — regular low-impact exercise, music therapy, art and craft, and visiting entertainment — to help residents maintain their physical, social and mental health and wellbeing.

When should you consider a Low-Needs Care Nursing Home?

It’s often a gradual realisation — managing medications, meals or personal care alone is becoming harder, or living at home no longer feels safe or sociable. If that sounds familiar for you or someone you love, we’d welcome a chat about your circumstances to help you decide whether Gracevale Lodge is the right fit.

What recreational and private spaces are available at Gracevale Lodge?

Each resident has their own spacious, private, fully-furnished room with a leafy outlook onto our landscaped gardens. Our communal areas include a large indoor lounge, TV, library and quiet sitting areas, a spacious dining area, and beautiful gardens with plenty of outdoor seating — plus dedicated resident garden beds and vegetable boxes. We’re an easy stroll or short bus trip from the Warragul town centre, with its shops, cafés, galleries, markets, churches and parks.

What safety measures are in place at Gracevale Lodge?

The safety and security of our residents is paramount. Residents receive 24-hour care, support and supervision, with a nurse call bell in every bedroom and bathroom and in each communal area. Our staff keep a close eye on the wellbeing of every resident to ensure they are always safe, healthy and happy at Gracevale Lodge.

How much does it cost?

Residents pay a single all-inclusive fee each fortnight, covering accommodation, meals, laundry, room servicing, use of communal facilities, all care and support services, and all social programs and activities. There are no upfront fees or accommodation bond, and the fee doesn’t depend on any income or asset calculation or ACAS assessment. All residents are eligible for government rental assistance.

What if I only need care for a short time?

Alongside permanent care, we offer short-term respite and convalescence stays, with the same inclusive programs, meals and warm welcome. Talk to us about your circumstances and we’ll help you arrange the care you need.

How big are the bedrooms?

Every bedroom is private, spacious and fully furnished — with a bed, armchair, bedroom furniture, built-in wardrobe and shelving — and looks out onto our gardens. We offer single, twin-share and double rooms, with a choice of private ensuite, twin-share and communal bathrooms to suit different preferences and budgets, and provide all bed linen, towels and laundry.
