Disability care FAQs
What is disability care?
Disability care means personalised support with everyday living, so people with disability can lead a comfortable and fulfilling life. At Gracevale Lodge, our trained carers support residents in their 20s onwards with low-level physical, mobility or intellectual disabilities or mental health support needs who can no longer live at home and would value secure, homely communal living and companionship — with help for dressing, grooming, showering and medicine management, and full inclusion in our communal activities and programs.
Who qualifies for disability care?
Our disability care is for adults in their 20s onwards with low-level support needs who can no longer live at home and are seeking quality care, support and companionship in a comfortable, nurturing community. If you’re not sure whether we’re the right fit, talk to us about your circumstances and we’ll help you work it out.
What disability services do you offer?
Our trained staff provide 24-hour personalised care, including secure medicine management, help with daily personal hygiene and grooming, and mobility assistance. We also provide nutritious, well-balanced meals, full laundry services, and a wide range of inclusive programs and activities — music therapy, art and craft, and visiting entertainment — designed to suit every resident’s needs and interests.
How much does it cost?
Residents pay a single all-inclusive fee each fortnight, covering accommodation, meals, laundry, room servicing, use of communal facilities, all care and support services, and all social programs and activities. There are no upfront fees or accommodation bond, and the fee doesn’t depend on any income or asset calculation or ACAS assessment. All residents are eligible for government rental assistance.
What if I only need care for a short time?
As well as permanent care, we offer disability respite and convalescence stays — from a few weeks to a few months. That might give your family or carer a break, support your recovery after an illness, injury or operation, or provide secure temporary accommodation in an emergency or while your home is being modified. You’ll find the same warm welcome and inclusive lifestyle however long you stay.
Why choose Gracevale Lodge for disability care?
We’re a single-level, fully accessible home with wide corridors and spacious rooms, and we’ve cared for residents with disability for many years. Our staff get to know each resident personally and work with you, your family and your health professionals on a care plan that fits — so you can relax and enjoy life among friends.
