Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an ACAS or aged-care assessment to move in?
No — Gracevale Lodge is a Supported Residential Service, so there’s no formal ACAS or aged-care assessment, no income or asset test, and no accommodation bond. With minimal paperwork, we can welcome new residents on approved application as soon as a suitable room becomes available.
What does it cost, and what’s included?
Residents pay a single all-inclusive fee each fortnight, covering accommodation, meals, laundry, room servicing, use of communal facilities, all care and support services, and all social programs and activities. There are no upfront or exit fees and no accommodation bond, and all residents are eligible for government rental assistance.
Can I visit or take a tour before deciding?
Absolutely — we’d love to show you around. Come and see the rooms, communal and dining areas and gardens, join us for a meal, and meet our residents and staff. Just call us on (03) 5623 1863 to arrange a time that suits you.
What do I need to bring when I move to Gracevale Lodge?
We provide full quality bed linen and towels, so you only need to bring your clothes and a blanket. Our residents’ rooms are fully furnished for comfortable living, and include a bed, wardrobe, bedside furniture and shelving, so you can simply move in with a suitcase! We do encourage our residents to decorate and furnish their rooms with photos and ornaments to enjoy and personalise the space in their room. After all, this is your home!
Can couples live together?
Yes — we have special double-sized rooms for couples. We’d warmly invite you to take a tour so you can see them for yourself.
Can I keep my own GP/Doctor?
You are absolutely welcome to keep your own GP, and we are happy to assist you with bookings and organising transport to and from your GP. Your GP is also welcome to see you at Gracevale Lodge, if that’s more convenient. You are also always welcome to see the onsite visiting GP too.
Can you help with transport to appointments?
Yes — our staff can help you arrange medical and other appointments and organise transport to and from them. Our location also puts town-centre services within easy reach.
Can you cater for special dietary needs?
Yes. Our meals are prepared fresh on-site in regular consultation with a nutritionist, and we’re happy to accommodate personalised meal plans for residents with specific dietary requirements.
What laundry facilities are provided?
We provide full onsite commercial laundry facilities for bed linen, towels and our residents’ personal clothes (other than woollen, dry cleanable or delicate items). We do ask that residents’ clothing are clearly named.
Are pets allowed?
To look after the health, safety and comfort of all our residents, we can’t permit cats or dogs at Gracevale Lodge. If you have a very small pet that can be kept in an aquarium or cage in your room, we may be able to accommodate it — just ask.
Can I have visitors at Gracevale Lodge?
Visitors are always welcome at Gracevale Lodge between 8am to 8pm each day. We ask our residents to notify us when they go offsite with their visitors. Our residents’ guests are also welcome to join us for a meal.
